"This route is quite open as it goes through an old burn area. It gradually ascends to the point where I've ended the segment where there is a great overlook of Magpie Gulch valley. One can continue on this road to a junction with Avalanche Gulch road, descend that back to the paved highway on the east side of Canyon Ferry Lake and make a loop route back to the starting point."

Johnny Gulch rd

"There are plenty of side routes and connectors to this. Theoretically one could link up with dry creek rd and cross the Elkhorn range east to west but there is gated "no tresspassing" private property on part of this route. One side connector goes south and around lone mountain, and could form a nice loop route. This route starts in arid prairie and farmlnd and goes through a canyon to alpine territory."

Reeders Alley to Lump Gulch Road

Lot of old mining ruins and ruined log cabins on Cataract creek road."

Clancy to park Lake via Lump Gulch Rd

"There is a parking pulloff at Avon near the Little Blackfoot river bridge. The route climbs to a plateau running through the Spotted Dog WMA with excellent views of the surrounding terrain. It then hits a junction with FS rd 314. One could turn left here and go through the national forest to Elliston, or keep straight and explore further."

"The best actual route starts near the boulder river (I could not get this to map accurately) which adds several more miles, starting in prairie and going through several ecosystems with good overlooks of the boulder valley, bull and high wood mountains. The road continues to Johnny gulch but there is a locked gate and private property preventing this. One could form a loop by taking the “tramway”connection to Queen’s gulch. this section is pretty technical in spots."

"The route goes from a parking area near Townsend up Old Woman's grave rd (named after a woman who died at age 32 in the 1800's) through the Limestone Hills to near Radersburg, returns on Mud Spring Creek Rd (can get very muddy when it rains - be forewarned) to the rock climbing area in Indian Creek canyon, then back to the start."
