Starting at the Tip second lot I go into the Tip trails but stick to the service roads, you can do a lap of the Kids Loop if you feel like it, it's not technical. For this ride I just did the service roads and messed around before heading out towards the rail trail, you have to ride a bit on a quiet street to get to the entrance to the rail. Once there it's fast and straight all the way to Flos Rd 11 W, a fairly quiet gravel road. You'll fly on this at first but then you'll climb a long uphill that's not steep, you can barely see the hill but you will feel it. Turn on the paved road, Baseline Rd E and go as long as you can on the shoulder, or you can hit the pavement but keep a lookout for cars, skip past Con 2 E (gravel road), you will come back to this. Keep going on the pavement for another minute or two and turn right onto Carpenter Sideroad for some more gravel. Go around the bend and make a right onto Stamp Sideroad, go fast to avoid bugs through here but be careful as the road could have some ruts or bumps. Make a right on 93 but stay on the shoulder, it's only a few hundred feet before you hit McMann Sideroad. From here to the point where I turn back there is mostly gravel but there are some short sections of pavement here and there, I haven't done this ride this season but it should still mostly be gravel, it's quiet and pretty fast. When you get to the turn around point on Ron Jones you can keep going up on the service road/trail but it will only take you to Vasey Rd and from there I haven't explored, I actually haven't gone past the turn around point here anyway but you can try it. After, I retrace my ride back to Baseline and then make a left on Con 2E. I go all the way back and cross over the rail and head into Tiny Marsh, this service road has had some work done lately and is pretty rough for a short stretch, careful on the rocks and stuff but it's still a nice ride. You'll make a right on Tiny Flos Townline and head up to the parking lot that leads into a service road that's pretty fast and straight and also nice and quiet, nice sunsets in the evening in summer here. After you will turn left on Con Rd 2W/Lawson amd head to Crossland Rd, this part blows as you will have to ride the rough shoulder but if there are no cars you can hit the road but just be super-careful and keep a lookout, I ride right on the far edge of the shoulder to be safe but the ride is slow and rough but it's not far. Make a right on Con Rd 3W and you can either go all the way back to the rail trail or you can turn into the ATV/service road section. It's pretty fun but it can be rough in there and the one climb is often rutted and deep sand and you might be forced off the bike for about 20-30 feet depending on your fitness, run like hell as the deer flies in there are like a cloud and they will attack as soon as you slow down and especially if you dismount. Just get up, get on and book it and they will be gone, they're bad from about June till later in August. When you exit at the small lot you can ride the moto track on the side of the road, it's pretty sandy and has huge washboards but I have a blast on it, watch out for rocks later on here, just slow down and be careful. Right now there is a huge flood on the side right before you turn left into the woods so I opt to turn in one entrance before and find my way to the main trail but you might want to just hit the road until you get back to the rail, there's lots of trees down right now in there so I would just avoid it for a while. If you want to explore these trails there's lots of them and you can spend some time there but just move fast as the bugs can get bad, I generally just go as fast as I can within reason. Careful of roots and some embedded stones here and there throughout this entire ATV/service road section. Some sections are dedicated moto/ATV trails so be courteous and give them space. After that, it's back on the rail and head back to the Tip parking, exit the rail by either climbing the stairs or riding up the steep, short hill and head back up to the residential street that will take you back to the Tip where you can finish the ride in there as it takes you back to the lot.
I did this ride all summer last year and so far this season I have been skipping a bit of it out but my rides are still about the same distance as I have been riding right from my door and not driving to the trailhead parking at Tip. It's a great mix of everything and if you're short on time you can do a shorter version of it and still get a great ride.
