Starts and ends in Downieville. About half of this route is paved, but other than the 23 miles of hwy 49, there's not much traffic. Lots of gold mining history to see along the way.

You should be able to get water in Alleghany around mile 20. You could also filter water from Milton Reservoir at mile 40. There are campgrounds with water at Jackson Meadows Reservoir (mile 43) and Webber Lake (mile 50). Bassett's Station at mile 75 has drinks and great ice cream.

Rode this a few months ago. Very challenging ride but well worth it! I will note there is extremely limited water along the route, we weren't able to find any until mile 70. The decent down HW49 at the end was the greatest feeling in the world.
