Great road for training. The views are amazing. little climb in the beginning. Bring a water filter straw and you'll never run out of water on this road.

I rode it in early February, 2019, also parking off Wayah Rd. The first part (first 1 1/2 mi climb) -- and a few sections further south -- was very wet and soft, and therefore pretty slow. But it's really nice ride.

The northern part of the forest road was great. Some long steady climbs and nice decents. I parked just off Wayah Rd and rode south 5 miles and then turned around and went back. I never saw another vehicle the entire time. I later drove my truck the entire route and the south end of the road had houses and several cars traveling each direction. The forest service was also working on grading the roads (June 2018) so I was glad I chose the northern portion for my bike ride.
