Balsam Mountain Rd

Gravel route on Balsam Mountain Rd, Cherokee, Swain County, North Carolina

"This is a little known trek outside of the local folks. It starts just off of the Blue Ridge Parkway and travels "One Way", 17 miles down to Cherokee. Nothing to rough, and some nice photo ops by the river near the end. The majority of this road is in heavy woods, and has very few views. However, the route is awesome."

Old Cataloochee Turnpike to Waterville Rd

Gravel route from State Rd 1395 to Waterville Rd, Cosby, Cocke County, Tennessee

"This is an AWESOME ride. A couple of miles of asphalt at the end, but I wanted to end it up at the river rafting "put in". It's a great place to pull over and talk about what an awesome ride that was with your friends. The whole ride is very scenic and there are tons of smaller gravel roads to explore on the route. Enjoy this one guys and gals. "

Cataloochee Entrance Rd

Gravel route on Cataloochee Entrance Rd, Waynesville, Haywood County, North Carolina

"While this little stretch of road is less than a mile of gravel, is is WELL worth the visit. For those who are not aware, this is a popular place to see Elk, in the early mornings, and late evenings. Occasionally, you can catch them in the middle of the day if it's not too warm. Please note: The Elk are wild animals. They often walk in the road and near humans. Use caution on bikes. Enjoy!!!!!"

Windmill Gap Road

Gravel route from Co Hwy 52/1 to Co Hwy 52/1, Rock, Mercer County, West Virginia

"Ridden this road for years. Careful of the ATVs and dirt bikes on this stretch though. It's a well used shortcut between two Hatfield and McCoy trail systems. All gravel."
