A word of warning for anyone taking this route on. I rode a section of this as part of another route and the part between Frodsham and Pickerings Lock was totally unrideable. This section was a footpath and not a bridleway, so bikes shouldn't be riding down it anyway. The path was initially too bumpy to ride on a non-suspension gravel bike, then crossed a grassy field (with no real track to follow), became woodland which was impassable on a bike (low tree branches, steep banks, kissing gates every few metres) and finally a narrow bumpy track through tall grass inches from a barbed wire fence. I'd advise anyone wanting to do do this route to miss out this section and to extend the ride to loop south through Delamere, go along with Oakmere Way, the Whitegate way and get back to Northwich along the river weaver here.
