Really great route just outside of Durango. The beginning of this is a nice steady downhill that sets you up for a nice casual flat ride beginning getting to the nicely graded climb back up. Some awesome views and nice cruising through some backroads farmland. There's a nice large pull off across from the Thompson Park Cemetery to park at and start from (where the route starts anyways).

A stellar route. I rode it in October and the variety of colors I saw was amazing. Consider taking 116 to 120 instead of 117. 117 is chunky and a little sketchy while all other gravel on this route is surprisingly flat and quite pleasant. Enjoy.
