This is the best gravel beginner road. Nice views of the valley and the rest of the city. It's not flat, but the climbs are very manageable, even with road bike gearing.

Is this fire road open to motor vehicles or just hikers/cyclists?

Rode Canoga to Reseda and back on Sunday, June 21st. Trail conditions were fine.

Tried to take this route but the gate was closed. looked promising for the first quarter mile that was open.
