Gravel Segment
From Forest Service Rd 376, Jemez Pueblo to NM-126, Jemez Springs, Sandoval County, New Mexico
Just up from the Gilman Tunnels. The lower part is washboardy, but the surface gets much smoother, although still gravel, norht of Schoolhouse Canyon. A great loop ride is from Jemez Springs downhill to SR485, up past the town of Gilman, through the gorgeous Guadalupe Box where the road turns to gravel. Then to SR126, take a right for a wonderful downhill for about 3.7 miles to Hwy 4 and right back to Jemez Springs. A roughly 42 mile round trip w/ about 19 miles of gravel. An added bonus is about 1.5 miles from the top - take FR 604, to the right for .9 miles to a superb overlook of some Tent Rocks.
