Beautiful route - coming from South to North, only about the first 20 miles of the route is gravel. The remaining distance to Marfa is paved. Unpaved section has steep elevation changes both up and downhill.

Gravel is chunky, climbs can be very long, or punchy and slippery. There are no places to stop for water or help if needed, little to no reception and very little traffic. I rode it last november, didn't find it terrifying myself, but could see why others would.
