On Pilarcitos Canyon Rd, Salinas, Monterey County, California
This road is 'reverting to nature' since the closure of Fort Ord as a military post. There are some sections of gravel and some sections of softening sand. However, I recently rode it with 700c x 40 mm tires without problem. The road used to be considered an extension of Pilarcitos Canyon Rd however the BLM has renamed it Merrill Rd 'in honor' of the private farm where it terminates.
