I would recommend the route as shown rather than continuing to the highway. On my gravel bike there are two short sections I have to walk, but mostly it is great. In the reverse direction, there are one or two additional sections I have to walk.

Follow the fire road the whole time, otherwise the route tries taking you through a 5 mile bushwhack and hike a bike. I ended up spit out onto 330 and then made it back to redlands via highland [road?]. Great, tough route through various campsites and shooting ranges though lol!
