Gravel Segment
From US-285, Fairplay, Park County to Co Rd 7, Leadville, Lake County, Colorado
This is called the "Road to Riches" which was originally built in 1860 for miners, following a Ute Indian trail. Closed during the winter. Opens about mid-May. Spectacular views, waterfalls, and elk,. The summit is just shy of 12,000' elevation. Gravel from US 285 to the summit and back down. Becomes paved at County Road 7 as you enter a residential area before getting on US 24, All motorized vehicles would not have trouble once the snow is gone. http://www.dangerousroads.org/north-america/usa/4419-weston-pass.html

East side of this is pretty smooth, west a bit rougher but definitely still doable on a drop bar bike. Beautiful throughout.

Hey Michael - thanks for posting this! Do you think this route is doable on a gravel bike (panracer 35 tubeless)?
