Closed during the winter. Opens about mid-May. Spectacular views, waterfalls, and elk,. The road is one-way only from Endovalley Picnic Area to above treeline at Fall River Pass. You get to it by taking the paved road up past the Stanley Hotel to the Endovalley picnic area. There is a ranger station that will take your money for a day pass into the National Park. 15 mph. Motorized vehicles and Bicycles must return to Estes Park on Highway 34, trail ridge road.. wide road for passing with a motorcycle. Good for SUVs, Pickups and ADV Motorcycles. Winter: Starting December 1, the road officially reverts to winter trail status, and bicycles (along with pets) are strictly prohibited on the road.
Spring/Fall Transition Periods: During specific shoulder windows (like parts of October/November or during spring maintenance before vehicle opening), the road is sometimes opened temporarily to bikes and pedestrians on weekends or specific hours, but it remains heavily restricted or closed completely during active maintenance and heavy snow conditions.
Summer/Vehicle Season: Once the road opens to motor vehicles (typically in early July through early October), cyclists are permitted, but they must follow the one-way uphill traffic flow to the Alpine Visitor Center and descend via Trail Ridge Road.
