Parked at the west end of the loop. Mixed loose and packed gravel throughout. The road is gated and closed to automobile traffic. The crux of the ride is about 2 miles in from that direction but once you are the top it is smooth sailing from there. You can make a 12.5 mile loop out of it by keeping right at the bottom of the east end getting back on the gravel road access at the next gate which follows the bottom of the ridge back.
