Very solid gravel road. Very well traveled by people camping and some people off-roading in their Jeeps and Broncos. Grade is very manageable. Surface is very doable on a gravel bike. Starts out as packed dirt with many potholes (more bothersome for those 4-wheel vehicles than 2 wheels. Then it gets a little rockier higher up. Feels like someone is camping every 200yds so plenty of people around should there be an emergency. Pennsylvania mine makes for a good spot to stop. Higher up you get to the gate where vehicles aren't allowed and that's the spot where you'll likely turn around and leave that steep rocky trail for the MTBs.
