For those going UP this road: Expect a challenging, loose-surface, seated climb to the top. Average slope is about 10%, but gets as high as ~20% in places. Maintaining traction on the loose gravel surface isn't easy with typical gravel tires (e.g. 35-42mm width).

Very pretty. Short but sweet. I did the descent on this while doing a loop from Schaghticoke Road to Skiff Mountain Road down N Kent #1 to River Road. This particular fire road climbs (or drops) 600 feet in about a mile, so some sections are steep but nothing too bad. It's in very good shape as of mid-June 2021, but there are signs that say "No winter maintenance", so your mileage may vary. NOTE: The gravel on this road is a little rounded, next time I'll drop my tire pressure a bit for better grip.
