i thought the private property was "off" the road. the signs were all off the road for private property, nothing in the middle of the road suggesting we shouldn't pass through the road
the park service?forrest service? whatever service is in charge of this area does have a gate up, but i think the gate is just to keep cars from driving down this last segment. the gate didn't say anything about private property, i only remember is saying closed to vehicles.

It actually starts off as a public road but crosses over someone's property. It is marked as private. If you cross the re-entry has big bulldozer blocking the trail. If you are going north take a right on Kuhn. Left on Wall Pack and reconnect to Old Mine Rd.
