After a short climb through a field this skirts the perimeter of Middle Wood, a pretty copse on the hill. Near the top there's a small bridge through a hedge across a ditch - watch out for the cut off stumps of hedge just as you join the bridge, which are low to the ground and could take you by surprise if the grass is long.
