Several maps show Mayhaw Pond Road as having a southward then northward bend. This depiction is incorrect. The road travels straight across this area. This is a low marshy place, and probably floods easily. There is a gate and a farm road located where this map shows the road bend south while traveling west. Perhaps when the road is flooded and unusable, the gate is opened and traffic is allowed to travel south around the swamp.
