When traveling west to east, Schermerhorn Road is a good challenging climb that starts with a paved 12-17% grade for the first mile and softens a bit to about 6-8% for another mile of gravel to the Anderson Overlook, where a rider is rewarded with a nice view of Mount Greylock and the vast expanse of forest north to Vermont.
