The red creek portion of this road is dirt gravel with lots of hills for training. It’s lovely with trees and wildlife with places to stop for breaks and shade. The return trip on CO-96 is a 65 mph highway. There is a rumble strip and wide shoulder within the strip so I felt more secure. It was a fast ride back as well with rolling hills. Highly recommend this ride but bring plenty of water and bug spray.
