Mix of paved and unpaved. The unpaved is a lot of smooth VT dirt roads but there is a section that is chunky, white, VT gravel - very rough! If you want to avoid it, it is Middle Road, just north of where the route crosses 17. You can work around it using 17 and East Road. The dirt and gravel is almost all on the southern and eastern parts of the ride. One dirt segment on northern side and the western side is all smooth pavement.
