Two wheel drive is fine from the Scotties Castle side, as far as Racetrack Playa, only. Serious four wheel drive or off road type motorcycle recommended for Lippencott Pass. Cary survival gear and water. Do not take this road lightly. Tell someone where you are going. Phones don't work out here.

This road in now in poor condition. Perhaps you could make it in to Race Track on two wheel drive but only with high clearance. Approach this road with caution. Wash outs cause it to change often.
