A difficult gravel loop that takes you behind the Twin Sisters. The road has been "improved" for fire access but is still a challenge. Counter Clockwise is easier but still difficult.

Any private land is traversed on public roads.

Rob Stanley, does this route go through private land? We have a place in Big Elk Meadows, and I thought there was some private land in there.

The Pierson Park trail (FS 119) is closed from June 15th to November 30th, 2025. The closure is due to a fuel break project and the need to remove overgrown vegetation and trees to reduce wildfire risk. This closure affects the road and a 500-foot buffer on either side due to potential hazards from heavy equipment. https://www.eptrail.com/2025/01/10/southern-portion-of-pierson-park-road-closing-mid-january/

There is no parking at the start/finish (private). Lilly Lake off of Hwy 7, Fish Creek Road in Estes Park or the south end start of Pierson Park have parking.
