State Line Trail

Gravel route from State Line Trail to Chicago and North Western Railroad, Crystal Falls, Iron County, Michigan

"The rugged State Line Trail is Michigan's longest and reddest (iron in the soil) rail-trail. There are over 50 bridges on the trail, often with incredible vistas over rivers. Eagle and osprey sightings are possible, particularly between Iron River and Stager. The trail cuts through forests of aspen, birch, maple, beech and hemlock. The trail is used for snowmobiling during the winter months and can be negotiated with a mountain bike in summer months. It is not suitable for narrow bike tires. Along the way, the State Line Trail connects to the Watersmeet to Land O'Lakes Trail, the Crystal Falls to Stager Trail and the Crystal Falls to Iron River Trail."
