"This is all gravel: for now. My understanding is that there are plans to pave the Dawkins Line this year. Riding surface ranges from fine gravel to very large ballast so wide tires are recommended. Trail conditions range from good to washed out from runoff. This section is very remote so dogs should not be an issue. Sections are supposed to be closed to motor vehicles and open for foot, bike, and horse traffic only. However, all the gates were open when were there. "
