8 mi gravel Matanzas State Forest Loop Gravel route on FL-5, St. Augustine, St. Johns County, Florida "An 8 mile loop with approximately 7 miles of true gravel and 1 mile of packed dirt between points 4 and 6. Normally great surface conditions but can very with traffic from hunters and logging operations. This loop is nearly always free of standing water unless unusual back to back rainfall. Great for gravel bike or cyclocross. Perfect for tire size 35c and up. If coexisting with hunters is of concern, hunting seasons are posted on the kiosk in the parking lot or on the website of the Matanzas Forest."
