Gravel route from Maryborough Hervey Bay Rd to Piggford Ln, Walligan, Fraser Coast Regional, Queensland

"This is the connection (missing link) from the end of the paved rail trail at Nikinbah to Pigford lane and the start of the gravel rail trail. From Nikinbah ride along the fence line beside the highway. Can be muddy after rain. Once up to Pigford lane, take care crossing this road as it can be busy and cars are travelling at 80-100kph. "

Mary2Bay rail trail - Piggford Lane to Colton

Gravel route from Piggford Ln to Piggford Ln, Walliebum, Fraser Coast Regional, Queensland

"This section of rail trail is reasonably flat , easy ride with a mix of gravel, stoney and slightly sandy surfaces. There are a number of old timber bridges with side tracks. There are a couple creek crossing which are fine in dry weather but can get muddy in the wet. This section is being constantly being improved by an amazing group of volunteers. No water or toilets but plenty of trees. Parking at Pigford lane, Walagan station, Takura , and Churchill mine road."

Hervey Bay Rail Trail

Pavement route from Esplanade to Maryborough Hervey Bay Rd, Nikenbah, Fraser Coast Regional, Queensland

"Starting at the Urangan pier the rail trail cuts through the centre of town crossing streets and following the old rail track. It is a wide well maintained bitumen path that gradually heads out of town past the hospital and into open fields , ending just past Nikinbah. The trail can be followed a few kms further (would not come up on map) but this requires a short stint on the side of the highway, turning right into Pigford lane for a short distance and then left to follow the rail trail again on gravel tracks across some new trail bridges before stopping at a wide wet area. "
