Gravel Segment
On National Forest 286 Rd, Clyde, Haywood County, North Carolina
Gravel road with some steep climbs where gravel has washed away and road is mildly rutted. 2016 Forest Service and 2012 USGS map shows that road continues to HorsePen Gap. Down trees have blocked the passing at the end. I walked the overgrown road for a little bit and lost it at a stream. Three nice camping spots along 286. One at end of route. One closer to the beginning that looks heavily used (has a swing/fire ring/trail out the back of site). Can access road from turn around going either direction on I-40.
