Gravel Segment
From N Cave Creek Rd, Scottsdale, Maricopa County to F R 269, Black Canyon City, Yavapai County, Arizona
As an out and back, you're looking at over 6000 ft. of elevation gain. Bring your climbing gears (and legs)! This route is 95% gravel. Depending on the time of year, Seven Springs Road is either graded smooth hardpack (Winter) or loose, choppy washboard gravel (Summer). Access to the road is via Cave Creek road before it turns into Seven Springs Road. A good place to park is in the clearing near the Ranger Station at the turn-off to Bartlett Lake. There is a water crossing just south of Seven Springs Campground - is it usually rideable at only a few inches deep, but be careful during the rainy season. North of the campground about 8 miles in is very remote - there are no water sources or services other than the creek at the campground. Don't expect to see anyone except the rare rancher. Bring plenty of water (200+ oz per person) for a day ride and start early before 5:30 am in the Summer months.

Solid ride but I agree with Wesley - I did this on my gravel bike (Lauf True Grit, 40mm) and it was very tough, especially on the descents. Very chunky. MTB is much more enjoyable and a better option, IMO

Better suited for mountain bikes. after humboldt (amazing road climb), the breaking bumps and chunks on this ride get brutal

Hello. I was wondering if you still do this ride? I live pretty close by and like dirt/gravel rides if not too difficult. Looks like a lot of climbing.
