Gravel, Dirt, Sand and a little road to make this loop. The path I took was sort of a create-it-as-I go route. I hopped on a section of the Bear 75 route I previously did until Porcupine Lake. From there I hopped onto Benson Lake Road. This was probably the best long stretch of good gravel that I found on the entire trip. Once I made my way to Old Highway A, I took a few ATV routes and ultimately ended up at Twelve Foot Falls about 36 miles in. I enjoyed a nice sweet potato, almond butter, balsamic jam, and honey sandwich for the second day in a row. I took in the crashing sounds of the waterfall and got ready to make the trip home.
My initial plan was to do an out and back. But I hate out and backs, especially when you have so many roads to explore in the Northwoods. I found another route, but there was only one caveat. I'd have to go through the same route that was soaking wet and muddy that I did on my first route of the trip. I was hoping some of it cleared up due to the nice weather the past couple days.
To get there, I took highway 101 A, to US-8, County Rd U, and then Spur Lake Road. Spur Lake Road was a ROUGH stretch. Wet, muddy, and thick sand. I was only moving at about 10 mph as my wheels sunk into the sand.
