Gravel Route
From Stanley St to River St, Maclean, Clarence Valley Council, New South Wales
This 75km loop is about half gravel and half country paved roads. There is water and toilets in Maclean (and bakery, coffee etc) Then water is available at Lawrence opposite the small local store on the riverbank. To lengthen the loop options include adding Elbow Creek Road and Clarks Lane on Woodford Island before crossing the ferry, and/or riding out and back whatever distance you want to on Tullymorgan Jacky Bulbin Road. I do not recommend using the Pacific Highway as part of the loop at any time. To shorten the loop take out the Lower Lawrence part of the course on Kings Creek Road, or leave it in but just come back across the ferry. There are great views along this ride and minimal traffic except between Harwood and Maclean (last 5k's) The state of the roads do change but I recommend about 45 width tyres and low profile tread or slicks even. 2 great climbs worth adding in if you like to suffer are Repeater Station Road on Woodford Island which you pass near the golf club (steep as) and in Maclean taking either Wharf or Clarence Streets up to the Lookout which has 270 degree views north and south along coastline and River Islands.
